The Featured Young Performers 2018

The London Ear Festival of contemporary music invited applications from advanced instrumentalists, aged 25 or younger, to audition to be the festival’s Featured Young Performer for 2018.  Auditions were held in January, andthe following three performers have been selected:

Anna Astesano (harp)
Hyungi Lee (marimba)
Nathanael Gubler (viola)

London Ear’s Featured Young Performer project aims to identify and support outstanding young players, and the successful applicants will benefit from the following career advancing opportunities:

  • To perform a lunchtime recital of recent music as part of the Borough New Music series, on May 15th 2018, in the church of St George the Martyr, Borough High Street, London SE1.
  • To perform a short solo recital of recent music, in the presence of an invited audience of musically influential guests. This will be held on March 21st 2018, in The Cello Factory, Waterloo.
  • To participate in a London Ear festival concert on March 22nd, playing alongside world-class professionals in Uroboros Ensemble.
  • To be the subject of a short profile article in the festival book.

Past Featured Young Performers have been subsequently engaged as soloists and ensemble members in later editions of London Ear.
